LESSON 6 – ENVIRONMENT AND RELATIONSHIPS

LEARNING WITH INDUSVINA • JIM ROHN SERIES

ARTICLE 6 – ENVIRONMENT & RELATIONSHIPS

You Become the Average of the 5 People You Spend the Most Time With

Topic: Personal Development • Discipline • Culture Keywords: Environment • Relationships • Standards Inspired by: Jim Rohn – “The Keys to Success”

Exactly. Article 6 is the decisive piece: whether discipline + learning + goals actually work depends on your environment and your relationships. Let’s go straight in.

Here is a truth that is not pleasant, but impossible to ignore: people are shaped by their environment.

Spend time with five people who love sports → you become the sixth person with better health.

Spend time with five people who love reading → you become the sixth person who reads every day.

And if you stay in an environment that normalizes blame, procrastination, and big talk with little action, then no matter how capable you are, you will slow down.

Jim Rohn has a famous line:

“You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.”

This is not a motivational quote for fun. It is a law of influence.

1. The environment quietly decides your direction

People do not fail because of one big decision. They fail because they stay too long in the wrong environment.

  • An environment without discipline → you will loosen your standards
  • An environment without responsibility → you will learn to make excuses
  • An environment that celebrates mediocrity → effort starts to look “too much”

Jim Rohn warns:

“Don’t let people who have never been anywhere convince you that your goals are unrealistic.”

2. The wrong relationships drain you every day

Some relationships:

  • do not take your money,
  • but they take your energy,
  • they take your standards,
  • and they take your focus.

The most dangerous people are those who:

  • always complain,
  • always have a reason,
  • always explain why it can’t be done,
  • and always tell you to “keep it normal.”

Jim Rohn puts it bluntly:

“You can’t soar with the eagles if you keep scratching with the turkeys.”

3. INDUSVINA’s philosophy: high standards – a smaller circle

At INDUSVINA, we don’t build an organization by sheer headcount. We build it with standards.

We choose:

  • discipline over eloquence,
  • responsibility over excuses,
  • and a learner’s mindset over ego.

The principle is simple:

Better to move slower with the right people than faster with the wrong ones.

4. Culture is an environment designed on purpose

Culture is not “for fun.” Culture is the organization’s operating system.

At INDUSVINA:

  • punctuality is real,
  • commitments are real,
  • responsibility is real,
  • and learning is real.

If you fit, you grow fast. If you don’t, you naturally step out.

We don’t need to fire many people. The environment will filter by itself.

5. A leader is the architect of the environment

If an environment inside a business is broken, look at the leader first.

Jim Rohn says:

“To change the organization, start by changing yourself.”

A leader who:

  • is late → makes the whole team late
  • is lax → creates a loose system
  • stops learning → makes the organization stagnate

At INDUSVINA, the person at the top must be the living standard.

6. Closing

You don’t need to change the whole world. You only need to change the environment you stay in.

  • Choose the people you walk with
  • Choose the standards you live by
  • Choose the circle you grow in
“Spend more time with people who are better than you, because they will pull you up.”
Jim Rohn

And at INDUSVINA, we build an environment serious enough that people are forced to grow.

INDUSVINA - Standards and cultural behaviors
Standards create the environment: discipline – responsibility – learning – integrity.
